GLGiacomo Leopardi
Giacomo Leopardi nasce a Recanati nel 1798, dal conte Monaldo e Adelaide Antici. Nel 1803 l’amministrazione dei beni familiari è tolta al padre, che si ritira quindi in una velleitaria attività di letterato dilettante, e passa nelle mani della madre. L’atmosfera di casa Leopardi non è felice ed è caratterizzata dall’indole della madre, severa, bigotta e povera d’affetti. Il giovane Giacomo inizia nel 1807 gli studi con i fratelli Carlo e Paolina, inizia a comporre piccoli componimenti poetici e cerca un proprio spazio autonomo all’interno di un’educazione di chiaro stampo controriformistico. Tra il 1813 e il 1816 inizia da solo lo studio del greco; si dedica a ricerche erudite e a varie indagini filologiche sorprendentemente rigorose e precise.
