LCLeonard Cohen
Leonard Cohen (n. 1934, Montreal) este un poet, cântăreț și romancier evreu canadian Și-a făcut studiile la universitățile McGill și Columbia. A debutat în 1956 cu volumul de versuri Să comparăm mitologii dar faima i-a adus-o cel de-al doilea ciclu, The Spice Box of Earth (Cutia cu mirodenii a planetei). Cohen a călătorit prin Europa și s-a stabilit în insula grecească Hydra, unde a locuit timp de 7 ani alături de soția sa Marriane Jensen și de fiul lor, Axel. În Grecia a scris mai multe volume, controversatul volum de versuri Flowers For Hitler (1964) precum și două romane, The Favorite Game(Jocul favorit, Polirom, 2003) (1963), și Beautiful Losers(Frumoșii învinși, Polirom, 2004) (1966). La publicarea lor, ziarul Boston Globe declara, "James Joyce nu a murit. Trăiește în Montreal și se numește Cohen." Ele s-au vândut în 800.000 de exemplare în lumea întreagă. Poet, eseist, critic unanim recunoscut, a cărui operă a fost tradusă și publicată în numeroase limbi. Inițial editor de poezie al MultiCultural Review, este deopotrivă editorul fondator al editurii Talisman. Edward Foster este șeful catedrei de Umanistică și Științe Sociale din cadrul Imperatore School of Sciences and Arts, la Stevens Institute of Technology. Totodată este visiting professor la Drew University Graduate Faculty, și a fost visiting professor la Drew University (Istanbul), precum și lector cu bursă Fulbright la Haceteppe University din Ankara și la Universitatea din Istanbul.
