Jaime Sabines Gutiérrez (March 25, 1926 - March 19, 1999) is arguably Mexico's most influential contemporary poet. Known as “the sniper of Literature” as he formed part of a group that transformed literature into reality, he wrote ten volumes of poetry, and his work has been translated into more than twelve languages. His writings chronicle the experience of everyday people in places such as the street, hospital, and playground. Sabines was also a politician. Jaime Sabines was born on March 25, 1926 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. Before he devoted himself to the study of literature, he spent three years studying medicine before moving on to his real vocation: Spanish and literature, studying at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and obtaining a postgraduate degree. Edna St. Vincent Millay
Edna St. Vincent Millay (February 22, 1892 – October 19, 1950) was an American lyrical poet and playwright and the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. She was also known for her unconventional, bohemian lifestyle and her many love affairs. She used the pseudonym Nancy Boyd for her prose work. Millay was born in Rockland, Maine to Cora Lounella, a nurse, and Henry Tollman Millay, a schoolteacher who would later become superintendent of schools. Her middle name derives from St. Vincent's Hospital in New York, where her uncle's life had been saved just prior to her birth. In 1904 Cora officially divorced Millay's father for financial irresponsibility, but they had been separated for some years prior. Juan Fernández de Heredia
Juan Fernández de Heredia, en aragonés Johan Ferrández d'Heredia (1310?, Munébrega, (Zaragoza) - 1396). Escritor, mecenas, político y diplomático aragonés al servicio de Pedro IV de Aragón y gran maestre de la Orden de San Juan de Jerusalén. Heredia nació hacia 1310 en Munébrega (cerca de Calatayud, actual provincia de Zaragoza). En 1328 ya era miembro de la Orden del Hospital, ocupando cargos en Alfambra y Villel (1333). Llegó al honor de Castellán de Amposta en 1345, la dignidad más alta de la Orden en la Corona de Aragón. En 1355 es prior de la Orden en Castilla. Desde 1356, el apoyo de Inocencio VI le vale ser prior de Saint-Gilles, afincándose en la corte papal de Aviñón, donde el Papa lo nombra gobernador de la ciudad y le encarga su defensa, para la que mandará construir unas famosas murallas. William Diehl
William Diehl (December 4, 1924 – November 24, 2006) was an American novelist and photojournalist. Diehl was fifty years old and already a successful photographer and journalist when he decided he had not heeded his life calling. The day after his 50th birthday he began his first novel, Sharky's Machine, which was made into a movie directed by and starring Burt Reynolds. Diehl later completed eight more novels, including Primal Fear, which became a movie by the same name starring Richard Gere and Edward Norton. Diehl died at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia on November 24, 2006, of an aortic aneurism. He was a resident of Woodstock, Georgia at the time of his death and was working on his tenth novel. Carlos de Rokha
Carlos Díaz Anabalón, más conocido como Carlos de Rokha (n. Santiago, Chile, 17 de octubre de 1920 - d. Santiago, Chile, 29 de septiembre de 1962), poeta chileno, integrante de la generación literaria de 1938. Carlos de Rokha fue el integrante más joven del grupo Mandrágora, fundado en 1938 por los poetas Teófilo Cid, Enrique Gómez-Correa y Braulio Arenas Carlos de Rokha nació en la ciudad de Santiago de Chile, el 17 de octubre de 1920, con el nombre de Carlos Díaz Anabalón. Fue hijo de Pablo de Rokha y Winétt de Rokha, y miembro de una familia de reconocidos artistas en Chile, entre ellos sus propios padres, y sus hermanos Lukó, José, Pablo, y Laura, entre otros. Seguidor de Arthur Rimbaud,[1] es catalogado dentro de la Generación Literaria de 1938, pese a la brecha etaria, temática y estilística. Selima Hill
Poet Selima Hill was born on 13 October 1945 in London, England and grew up in rural England and Wales. She read Moral Sciences at New Hall, Cambridge (1965-7). She regularly collaborates with artists and has worked on multimedia projects with the Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera and BBC Bristol. She is a tutor at the Poetry School in London, and has taught creative writing in hospitals and prisons. Selima Hill won first prize in the 1988 Arvon Foundation/Observer International Poetry Competition for her long poem The Accumulation of Small Acts of Kindness, and her 1997 collection, Violet, was shortlisted for the Forward Poetry Prize (Best Poetry Collection of the Year), the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Poetry Award. Her book of poetry, Bunny (2001), a series of poems about a young girl growing up in the 1950s, won the Whitbread Poetry Award. Selima Hill lives in Dorset. Her most recent book of poetry is The Hat (2008).

Alice Nahon
Alice Nahon est née le 16 août 1896 à Anvers, Belgique. Elle était la troisième d’une famille d’onze enfants. Son père était né aux Pays-Bas, mais de descendance française et sa mère Julia Gijsemans, venait de Putte près de Mechelen, où Alice a passé une bonne partie de son enfance. Elle fit ses études élémentaires à Oude God et, à partir de 1911, Alice étudia à l’École d’Agronomie à Overijse où elle va graduer. Toutefois, quand éclata la Première Guerre mondiale, elle devint étudiante infirmière à l’hôpital de Stuivenberg d’Anvers. Après plusieurs semaines de travail ardu, elle tomba malade à 18 ans à peine et il semblait que ses poumons étaient sérieusement attaqués. Elle poursuivit donc ses études à l’Académie d’Anvers et aux cours de littérature de Pol De Mont. Les années qui suivirent, Alice les passa au sanatorium, et à partir de 1917, elle va demeurer six ans à l’Institut Sint-Jozefs à Tessenderlo. Jacques Breault
Né le 29 mars à Montréal en 1933, Jacques Brault est poète, romancier et essayiste. Il a été professeur à l'Université de Montréal de 1960 à 1996, d'abord en Études médiévales puis en Études françaises. De 1970 à 1995, il a participé à de nombreuses émissions littéraires, à la chaîne FM de Radio-Canada et sur les ondes de la Communauté radiophonique de langue française. Brault décède le 19 octobre 2022 à l’âge de 89 ans à l’hôpital BMP de Cowansville et ses obsèques auront lieu le 4 novembre 2022 au Complexe funéraire Brome-Missisquoi à Cowansville au même endroit où son épouse Madeleine Breton (1928-2014) l’avait devancé le 18 mars 2014.
