Robert Sheckley, born in 1928, grew up in New Jersey and served in Korea before selling his first story in 1951. A master of satire and irony whose work has been called \"galactic humor,\" Sheckley was one of the first to portray gadgets that think for humans, such as intelligent refrigerators. Poet, eseist, critic unanim recunoscut, a cărui operă a fost tradusă și publicată în numeroase limbi. Inițial editor de poezie al MultiCultural Review, este deopotrivă editorul fondator al editurii Talisman. Edward Foster este șeful catedrei de Umanistică și Științe Sociale din cadrul Imperatore School of Sciences and Arts, la Stevens Institute of Technology. Totodată este visiting professor la Drew University Graduate Faculty, și a fost visiting professor la Drew University (Istanbul), precum și lector cu bursă Fulbright la Haceteppe University din Ankara și la Universitatea din Istanbul.
