\'Daniil Kharms\' was the main, and subsequently the sole, pen-name of Daniil Ivanovich Yuvachov. The son of a St. Petersburg political, religious and literary figure, Daniil was to achieve limited local renown as a Leningrad avant-garde eccentric and a writer of children\'s stories in the 1920s and 30s. Among other pseudonyms, he had employed \'Daniil Dandan\' and \'Kharms-Shardam\'. The predilection for \'Kharms\' is thought to derive from appreciation of the tension between the English words \'charms\' and \'harms\' (plus the German Charme; indeed, there is an actual German surname \'Harms\'), but may also owe something to a similarity in sound to Sherlock Holmes (pronounced \'Kholms\' in Russian), a figure of fascination to Kharms.

Ian Bavitz
Ian Bavitz, Long Island, New York City, New York, USA. Acquiring his adopted moniker from a movie he had acted in with friends and adding the surname when he began throwing rhymes, Aesop Rock creates hip-hop that is potent and evocative of his home city of New York. He and his production partner Blockhead apparently derive most of their samples from records lifted from the 99 cent bins of local music stores, meaning most of the sounds on his albums are drawn from Italian disco records. The former art student from Boston University built up a strong online fanbase with a number of CD releases, including Music For Earthworms and Appleseed, before making his debut album for the Mush label in 2000 with Float. Drawing on history and mythology to inform his densely constructed soundscapes, Aesop Rock\'s dextrous flow required several listens for the impact of his lyrics to be fully understood and assimilated.

Edna St. Vincent Millay (February 22, 1892 – October 19, 1950) was an American lyrical poet and playwright and the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. She was also known for her unconventional, bohemian lifestyle and her many love affairs. She used the pseudonym Nancy Boyd for her prose work. Millay was born in Rockland, Maine to Cora Lounella, a nurse, and Henry Tollman Millay, a schoolteacher who would later become superintendent of schools. Her middle name derives from St. Vincent's Hospital in New York, where her uncle's life had been saved just prior to her birth. In 1904 Cora officially divorced Millay's father for financial irresponsibility, but they had been separated for some years prior. Radu Gyr (n. 2 martie 1905 la Câmpulung Muscel - d. 29 aprilie 1975, București, pseudonimul literar al lui Radu Demetrescu) este un poet, dramaturg, eseist și gazetar român. Adelbert von Chamisso (January 30, 1781 – August 21, 1838) was a German poet and botanist. He was born Louis Charles Adélaïde de Chamissot at the château of Boncourt in Champagne, France, the ancestral seat of his family. Driven out by the French Revolution, his parents settled in Berlin, where in 1796 young Chamisso obtained the post of page-in-waiting to the queen, and in 1798 entered a Prussian infantry regiment as ensign. His family was shortly thereafter permitted to return to France; he remained in Germany and continued his military career.
