William Hope Hodgson (15 noiembrie 1877 - aprilie 1918) a fost un scriitor englez. Este autorul unui număr impresionant de scrieri, raportat la scurta sa viață. Premiul Nobel pentru Literatură. Nadine Gordimer (n 20 noiembrie 1923 în Springs, provincia Gauteng, Transvaal) este cea mai cunoscută scriitoare sud-africană. Thomas Moore (1779-1852) Irish poet, friend of Lord Byron and P.B. Shelley. Moore\'s writings range from lyric to satire, from prose romance to history and biography. His popular IRISH MELODIES appeared in ten parts between 1807 and 1835. Bram Stoker, a Scottish novelist, was born in Dublin, Scotland on November 8, 1847. Although he was the author of many horror stories, Stoker is best known for his most potent story, Dracula (1897). The gothic romance, which is based on vampire myths and on the occurence of supernatural phenomenon, became the prototype of all subsequent vampire stories. John R. Carling a fost un scriitor de limbă engleză, autor în principal de romane istorice. Nu se cunosc amănunte despre viața sa, deși opera sa literară se mai publică încă, la peste 100 de ani de la primele apariții. Cartea care a rezistat cel mai bine timpului este "Cetatea blestemată" (1910), apărută și la noi după 1989, cunoscând mai multe ediții.
