William J. ("Billy") Collins (born March 22, 1941) is an American poet who served two terms as the 44th Poet Laureate of the United States, from 2001 to 2003. In his home state, Collins has been recognized as a Literary Lion of the New York Public Library (1992) and selected as the New York State Poet for 2004. He was recently appointed Claire Berman Artist in Residence at The Roxbury Latin School, in West Roxbury, MA. He is a distinguished professor at Lehman College of the City University of New York. Collins was born in New York City to William and Katherine Collins. He attended Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains and received a B.A. degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 1963 and received his M.A. and Ph.D in English from the University of California, Riverside. Robert Sheckley, born in 1928, grew up in New Jersey and served in Korea before selling his first story in 1951. A master of satire and irony whose work has been called \"galactic humor,\" Sheckley was one of the first to portray gadgets that think for humans, such as intelligent refrigerators. JJJohn Jenkins
Rev. John Jenkins (1872 - 1936), known by his bardic name of Gwili, was a Welsh poet and theologian, and served as Archdruid of the National Eisteddfod of Wales from 1932 to 1936. Jenkins was born at Hendy in Carmarthenshire. He was educated at Bangor Baptist College, University of Wales, Cardiff, and Jesus College, Oxford. Like all Archdruids, he was a winner of one of the major poetry prizes at the National Eisteddfod, in his case the Crown, which he won in 1901. Novica Tadiæ was born in 1949 and has lived most of his life in Belgrade. The author of fourteen previous collections of poetry, including The Object of Ridicule, Monster, and The Unknown, he is the most-respected living Serbian poet. Scriitoare din Israel - născută 1902 - decedată 1981 Anda Pinkerfeld-Amir was born to an anti-Zionist family in Poland but became a committed Zionist who immigrated to Israel as a member of Ha-Shomer ha-Za'ir, abandoning her goal of writing in Polish to become instead a beloved writer of Hebrew poetry and children's literature. Anda Pinkerfeld was born in Rzeszow, Poland on June 26, 1902. Her father Joel Pinkerfeld, who served as an officer in the Polish army, was an architect who designed buildings in Galicia. Her family was assimilated and cultured; as anti-Zionists, they did not believe in the necessity of Hebrew or Jewish education. Anda wrote her first work in Polish, a prayer for the emancipation of Poland, when she was seven years old and published her first volume of Polish poetry (Pie’sni Zycia, Song of Life, 1921) when she was eighteen. Sunt născut sub semnul Racului, într-o zi de 13 a lunii iulie din anul 1977. Primii 14 ani din viata i-am petrecut acasa in Bucuresti, locul nasterii mele. Liceul a fost sa fie in Constanta, un liceu militar cu profil de marină, ulterior desființat (nu stiu daca trecerea mea pe acolo a influențat câtuși de puțin acest fapt). A urmat Academia Navală Mircea cel Batran din același oraș, evident cu același profil de marină militară. De 5 ani servesc patria, cum se spune fiind incadrat la o unitate din Mangalia. Am scris si scriu foarte mult (proză, versuri, muzica). Pasiunile mele sunt muzica, literatura si sportul.

ÉGÉdouard Glissant
Edouard Glissant (born in Sainte-Marie, Martinique in 1928) is a French writer, poet and literary critic. He is widely recognised as being one of the most influential figures in Caribbean thought and cultural commentary. He studied at the Lycée Schoelcher, named after the abolitionist Victor Schoelcher, where the poet Aimé Césaire had studied and had come back to as a teacher. Césaire had met Léon Damas there; later in Paris they would join with Léopold Senghor, a poet and the future first president of Senegal, to formulate and promote the conecpt of négritude. Césaire did not teach Glissant, but did serve as an inspiration to him; another student at the school at that time was Franz Fanon.
