Tom Waits
In the 1970s, Tom Waits combined a lyrical focus on desperate, lowlife characters with a persona that seemed to embody the same lifestyle, which he sang about in a raspy, gravelly voice. From the '80s on, his work became increasingly theatrical as he moved into acting and composing. Growing up in southern California, Waits attracted the attention of manager Herb Cohen, who also handled Frank Zappa, and was signed by him at the beginning of the 1970s, resulting in the material later released as The Early Years and The Early Years, Vol. 2. His formal recording debut came with Closing Time (1973) on Asylum Records, an album that contained "Ol' 55," which was covered by labelmates the Eagles for their On the Border album. Waits attracted critical acclaim and a cult audience for his subsequent albums, The Heart of Saturday Night (1974), the two-LP live set Nighthawks at the Diner (1975), Small Change (1976), Foreign Affairs (1977), Blue Valentine (1978), and Heart Attack and Vine (1980)....

DLD.H. Lawrence
D.H. Lawrence (1885-1930), scriitor, critic, poet si pictor englez, a fost una dintre cele mai proeminente figuri ale literaturii engleze a secolului XX. “Snake” si “ How Beastly the Bourgeoisie is” sunt probabil cele mai popularizate poezii. David Herbert Lawrence s-a nascut pe 11 septembrie 1885 in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, in centrul Angliei. Era al patrulea copil al unui miner sarac si alcoolic. Mama lui D.H. Lawrence era o fosta invatatoare, cu o educatie mult superioara celei a sotului sau. Copilaria lui Lawrence a fost dominata de saracie si de neintelegerile dintre parintii sai. Primește o bursă la Nottingham High School și lucrează ca funcționar într-o fabrică de instrumente chirurgicale. După terminarea studiilor la Nottingham University, devine profesor la vârsta de 22 de ani. Mama lui Lawrence a murit in 1910, el ajutand-o sa moara cu o supradoza de somnifer. My name is Tudor Damian, but friends call me Tudy. I was born April 12, 1984, in Bistrita, Romania. I have been living in Cluj-Napoca since 2003. A few things about me: I work in System Administration for a hosting company in the US, and I’m interested in technology, web standards and systems and network security. I also like anything that has to do with astronomy & astrology, photography, chess, logic puzzles, new-age music and oriental philosophy. As far as my literary preferences go, I like "classic" Sci-Fi (Isaac Asimov, Frank Herbert, Arthur C. Clarke, Douglas Adams) and English poetry (William Blake, Edgar Allan Poe). Over the years, I won a few prizes at local and national poetry and prose contests, and had my texts published in a few magazines. Lassi Nummi (born 1928) considers himself a prose-writer who has strayed into poetry. In a career spanning almost half a century and 25 collections of poetry, his preoccupations, and his central metaphors, have remained constant: landscape, trees, bushes, blades of grass. JGJean-Marie Guyau
Jean-Marie Guyau (n. 28 octombrie 1854; d. 31 martie 1888) a fost un filosof și poet francez. A fost printre altele inspirat de filosofia lui Epicur, Epictet, Platon, Kant, Herbert Spencer și Alfred Fouillée, și de poezia lui Pierre Corneille, Victor Hugo și Alfred de Musset. Guyau a avut primul contact cu scrierile lui Platon și Kant, ca și cu istoria religiilor și a filosofiei, în tinerețe prin intermediul tatălui său vitreg, cunoscutul filosof Alfred Fouillée. Datorită mediului în care a fost crescut, a obținut licența în litere la vârsta de 17 ani, tot când a și tradus compendiul lui Epictet. Hermann Hesse (n. 2 iulie 1877, Calw, Germania – d. 9 august 1962, Montagnola, Elveția) scriitor german, laureat al Premiului Nobel pentru Literatură pe anul 1946. Este faimos pentru romanele sale Steppenwolf (Lupul de stepă), Das Glasperlenspiel (Jocul cu mărgele de sticlă) și Siddhartha.
