Born 22 April 1901 - Piracicaba , Brazil Died 12 March 1969 - Paris, France Adhemar Pereira de Barros (1901-1969) was the mayor of Săo Paulo (1957-1961), and twice governor of Săo Paulo (1947-1951 & 1963-1966). Formou-se em medicina em 1923 pela Escola Nacional de Medicina, (atualmente pertencente à Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro). Fez especializaçăo no Instituto Oswaldo Cruz. Estudou nos Estados Unidos e fez residência médica em várias cidades européias, onde se tornou aviador, retornando ao Brasil em 1926. Em 6 de abril de 1927 casou com Leonor Mendes de Barros, com quem teve quatro filhos. Clinicou até 1932, quando se engajou nas fileiras da Revoluçăo Constitucionalista de 1932, como grande parte dos jovens paulistas de sua época. John James Osborne

English dramatist. He began his theatrical career as an actor and playwright in provincial English repertory theaters. Osborne\'s plays usually focus on an individual character and the sheer force of his language rather than on action. His first commercial success was Look Back in Anger (1956), concerning a restless and vociferous young man of the working class who is at war with himself and society; it became the seminal work for the so-called angry young men. His other plays depict the frustration of living without hope in a world filled with false values. Among Osborne\'s other plays are The Entertainer (1957), Luther (1961), Inadmissible Evidence (1964), A Patriot for Me (1965), The End of Me Old Cigar (1974), Watch It Come Down (1976), and Déjà vu (1991). He also wrote the screenplay for Tom Jones (1963).

Édouard Glissant

Edouard Glissant (born in Sainte-Marie, Martinique in 1928) is a French writer, poet and literary critic. He is widely recognised as being one of the most influential figures in Caribbean thought and cultural commentary. He studied at the Lycée Schoelcher, named after the abolitionist Victor Schoelcher, where the poet Aimé Césaire had studied and had come back to as a teacher. Césaire had met Léon Damas there; later in Paris they would join with Léopold Senghor, a poet and the future first president of Senegal, to formulate and promote the conecpt of négritude. Césaire did not teach Glissant, but did serve as an inspiration to him; another student at the school at that time was Franz Fanon. Glissant left Martinique in 1946 for Paris, where he received his PhD, having studied ethnography at the Musée de l'Homme and History and philosophy at the Sorbonne. Seamus Heaney (born 13 April 1939) is an Irish poet, writer and lecturer who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1995. He currently lives in Dublin. Seamus Heaney was born on April 13, 1939 into a family of nine children at the family farmhouse called Mossbawn, between Castledawson and Toomebridge in Northern Ireland. In 1953, his family moved to Bellaghy, a few miles away, which is now the family home. His father, Patrick Heaney, owned and worked a small farm of fifty acres in County Londonderry, but his real commitment was to cattle-dealing, to which he was introduced by the uncles who had cared for him after the early death of his own parents. Pär Lagerkvist nasceu em Växjö, Suécia, em 1891. Foi educado em uma atmosfera religiosa, tradicional e ritual da vida camponesa, marcada por um austero protestantismo luterano. Lagerkvist é o escritor da clarividência.
