Kenneth Patchen s-a născut la 13 decembrie 1911, în orașul Niles, Ohio. A decedat la data de 8 ianuarie 1972, la Palo Alto, California. Provenind dintr-o familie săracă este nevoit, în copilărie, să muncească într-o fabrică. În anul 1920, sora sa cea mai mică, Kathleen, moare accidentată de un automobil, iar acest moment nefericit din viața sa este evocat de scriitor în poemul ,,În memoria lui Kathleen''. RUMI Rumi is one of the most read and well known poets in the world. Jelaluddin Rumi was born in the Eastern part of the Ancient Persian Empire near Balkh (presently Afghanistan), on September 30, 1207. His first name literally means Majesty of Religion, Jalal means majesty and din means religion. Because of the threat of Mongol invasion in Persia his family fled, finally settling in Konya, Turkey. He passed away, on December 17, 1273. His shrine is in Konya. As a genius theologian, a brilliant scholar, and a pillar of Islam, he followed in his father place until his spiritual friend and teacher, Shams of Tabriz appeared in his life. Rumi underwent a spiritual transformation in 1244 after meeting Shams. With appearance of Shams, Rumi became reborn and soon started his marvelous work \"Masnavi,\" (Mathnawi) consisting of 24,000 verses at age 38. Gilles Vigneault, (born 27 October 1928) is a Québécois poet, publisher and singer-songwriter, and well-known Quebec nationalist and sovereigntist. A poet deeply rooted in his native Quebec, Vigneault has become an icon at home and Quebec ambassador abroad. He was one of the principal figures of the generation of chansonniers who helped the Quebec chanson find its own identity, even while helping it find a universal dimension. Born in Natashquan, on the far north shore of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, he was educated in Rimouski and Quebec City.
