There was this key on the floor...
The one you used to lock the door
The door that watched us as we sunk
In that old bed that saw us drunk
Amdist the lights of love and hate
Those lights we could not tolerate.
That manly armchair that you broke
Sat there and watched us choke
As dreary light wrote up above
\"From anorexia with love\".
We spilled our days over that table
That one that had you being able
To sing for me what were, by far,
The saddest songs on your guitar.
Don\'t worry dear, I won\'t forget
That punk rock desk on which I set
My dream of us that made you smile
And had you hoping for a while.
You\'d like to fly, I know you would
Those nice adornments carved in wood
Have seen it all and sure they might
Give it all up without a fight;
But they won\'t settle \'til we bruise
\'Cause one of us is bound to lose.
You\'ve started reading, dear old friend
But can you see it in my hand -
Our \"Romeo and Juliette\" -
The book we wrote after we left...
We left this hazy world behind
For someone else like us to find
The same old key down on the floor
The key you don\'t use anymore...
