FBFranz Bardon
Franz Bardon (December 1, 1909 – July 10, 1958), born in Opava, Austrian Silesia, was both a stage magician and student and teacher of Hermetics. He was member of Czech hermetic society Universalia. During World War II Bardon was at one point held in a concentration camp for refusing to participate in Nazi Mysticism. Bardon was rescued by Russian soldiers who raided the camp. Bardon continued his work in the fields of Hermetics until 1958 when he was arrested and imprisoned in Brno Czechoslovakia. Bardon died on July 10, 1958 while in the custody of police. He is best known for his three volumes on Hermetic magic. These volumes are Initiation Into Hermetics, The Practice of Magical Evocation and The Key to the True Quabbalah. Additionally there was a fourth work attributed to him by the title of Frabato the Magician, supposed to be a disguised autobiography. Samuel Taylor "Estese" Coleridge (1772-1834) Samuel Taylor Coleridge was born in Ottery St. Mary on 21 October 1772, youngest of the ten children of John Coleridge, a minister, and Ann Bowden Coleridge. He was often bullied as a child by Frank, the next youngest, and his mother was apparently a bit distant, so it was no surprise when Col1 ran away at age seven. He was found early the next morning by a neighbor, but the events of his night outdoors frequently showed up in imagery in his poems (and his nightmares) as well as the notebooks he kept for most of his adult life. John Coleridge died in 1781, and Col was sent away to a London charity school for children of the clergy. He stayed with his maternal uncle2. Col was really quite a prodigy; he devoured books and eventually earned first place in his class. Arseny Alexandrovich Tarkovsky (Russian: Арсе́ний Алекса́ндрович Тарко́вский, June 25 [O.S. June 12] 1907, Elisavetgrad – May 27, 1989, Moscow) was a prominent Russian poet and translator. His poems appeared in the films The Mirror and Stalker, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky, his son. Tarkovsky was born in Elisavetgrad to the family of a Narodnik on June 24 N.S. 1907. By 1924 he had moved to Moscow, and from 1924-1925 he worked for a newspaper for railroad workers called "Gudok." Tarkovsky managed a section that was to be filled by an editorial written in verse, that was supposedly easier for the readers than the ordinary prosaic editorials. An emissary of the Queen Christina of Sweden to the khan of the Tartars Islam Giray the 3rd, Iohann Mayer made a journey through Moldavia during May 1651. He was sent to accompany the Tartar messenger who had brought to the queen the letter of the khan that contained proposals of common operation against Poland and he was to hand over to the khan the answer of the queen as well. He passed through The White Citadel for the first time in December 1650 on his way towards Crimea. Now, in the summer of the next year, he was coming back on the same route and was finding again the same boatmen he had used six months earlier, on leaving. One cannot be aware of any other details of his winter journey towards Crimea, no other details about his itinerary through Moldavia he is most likely to have used to make his way to the khan` s court. Secret Counsellor of the King of Sweden, Gustav the 2nd Adolf Paul Strassburg (1595 – 1654) was born at Nurnberg in 1595, two years after his father, a jurist, settled in the town arriving from Saxony. He acquired an academic degree at Altdorf. For three years he studied Italian and Latin in Italy. While in Prague he joined the protestant uprising in Bohemia, since he was a Calvinist, and he fought at The Battle of White Mountain (1) thus becoming a captain. In 1624 he makes a first trip to Transylvania as diplomatic agent / secret agent trying to persuade the prince of Transylvania Gabriel Bethlen (2) to become a member of the Hague Alliance of the Protestant countries: England, Holland, Denmark and thus to fight against the Habsburg Empire.
