Come to me to the darkest woods
In the darkest place of the planet,
Join me through the creeping trees
That embrace me with their frozen branches.
Search me in the reigning darkness
While I watch your fear controlling
Every muscle of your fragile body
Every teardrop that is falling.
I am brother to the haunting owl,
I am merging with the mother night.
In this fateful scene of horror
Through the black my eyes are white
The cold hand on your shoulder is mine
And the wind you hear is my whispering;
My breath sends shivers down your spine
And your lips are also shivering
Turn and look into my eyes, my love
Do you see fear, do you see cold?
Do you want to touch my face again?
Or do you want my hand to hold?
I’ve been lying in the blizzard too long
And now I need the warmth of your touch
Though I am rugged, though I am old,
My heart still beats for you too much.
The rain has carved a hole in my love
The wind has blown my tenderness away
But tell me that’s not what you wanted
And if I were broken, you’d still stay.
Kiss me now and I’ll always remember
The day you kissed the rain and hugged the trees
Tell me now you’ll leave me never
And stay here in the cold, with me.
