After earning a reputation as a fine guitarist in school bands like Emil and the Detectives, Richard had his first brush with ‘fame’ as a teenaged founding member of the 1960’s folk-rock pioneers, Fairport Convention. Playing an inventive musical mix of blues and California-style rock, the group was quickly dubbed “the new Jefferson Airplane”. The band’s founding members (Iain Matthews, Judy Dyble, Richard Thompson, Simon Nicol, Ashley Hutchings, Martin Lamble) were discovered playing in London’s Soho district, by American producer Joe Boyd. Boyd secured them a recording contract and their eponymous debut album was released in 1968. Shortly thereafter, the band’s lead vocalist, Judy Dyble, was replaced with the ethereal songstress, Sandy Denny. Elizabeth Kim was born in Korea. Omma was killed by her brother and father ('honour killing') for the sin of sleeping with an American soldier and producing a mixed-race child, Elizabeth. There is no record of her birth or of her name. Dumped in a horrific orphanage in post-war Seoul, Kim was lucky to be adopted by a fundamentalist American family. But just as her American features doomed her in racist Korea, her Korean features served as a constant reminder that she wasn't good enough for her new all-white environment. Se naste in satul Olteni, jud. Teleorman. Dupa absolvirea cursurilor primare si gimnaziale in Olteni, Valeriu Anghel urmeaza Scoala Medie Mixta de 10 ani din Rosiorii-de-Vede. Isi intrerupe studiile timp de cinci ani lucrand ca profesor suplinitor la diferite scoli, sef de birou, metodist. Debuteaza cu poezie in revista Luceafarul in august 1960; in acelasi an intra prin concurs la Facultatea de Limba si Literatura Romana din cadrul Universitatii din Bucuresti pe care o absolva in 1965. Dupa absolvire intra in invatamant si se stabileste in judetul Vrancea; este profesor la Scoala din Negrilesti si la Tulnici. In anii '90 desfasoara o intensa activitate publicistica (Tribuna invatamantului, Milcovul, Informatia, Saeculum s.a.). Bernard Werber (born September 18, 1961 in Toulouse) is a French science fiction writer active since the 1990s. Werber was born in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) in a Jewish family on 18 September 1961.
