Selima Hill

Poet Selima Hill was born on 13 October 1945 in London, England and grew up in rural England and Wales. She read Moral Sciences at New Hall, Cambridge (1965-7). She regularly collaborates with artists and has worked on multimedia projects with the Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera and BBC Bristol. She is a tutor at the Poetry School in London, and has taught creative writing in hospitals and prisons. Selima Hill won first prize in the 1988 Arvon Foundation/Observer International Poetry Competition for her long poem The Accumulation of Small Acts of Kindness, and her 1997 collection, Violet, was shortlisted for the Forward Poetry Prize (Best Poetry Collection of the Year), the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Poetry Award. Her book of poetry, Bunny (2001), a series of poems about a young girl growing up in the 1950s, won the Whitbread Poetry Award. Selima Hill lives in Dorset. Her most recent book of poetry is The Hat (2008).

Vinicius de Moraes

Vinicius de Moraes, nicknamed O Poetinha (the little poet) (October 19, 1913 - July 9, 1980), born Marcus Vinicius da Cruz de Mello Moraes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, son of Lydia Cruz de Moraes and Clodoaldo Pereira da Silva Moraes, was a seminal figure in contemporary Brazilian music. As a poet, he wrote lyrics for a great number of songs that became all-time classics. He was also a composer of Bossa nova, a playwright, a diplomat and, as an interpreter of his own songs, he left several important albums. Stanis³aw Jerzy Lec (6 March 1909 – 7 May 1966) (born Baron Stanis³aw Jerzy de Tusch-Letz) was a Polish poet and aphorist of Polish and Jewish noble origin. Often mentioned among the greatest writers of post-WW2 Poland, he was one of the most influential aphorists on the 20th century. Lyrical poetry, sceptical philosophical-moral aphorisms, often with a political subtext. He was born on March 6, 1909 in Lviv (then Lemberg, Austro-Hungarian Empire), the son of the Baron Benon de Tusch-Letz and Adela Safrin. The family moved to Vienna at the onset of First World War, and Lec' early education was received there. Al. Robot sau Alexandru Robot (n. Alter Rotmann pe 15 ianuarie 1916, București - d. cca. 1941, probabil în apropiere de Odessa) a fost un poet român afirmat pe scena literară din Basarabia. Raymond Lévesque

(Né à Montréal, le 7 octobre 1928 - ) Poète, romancier, chansonnier et dramaturge, Raymond Lévesque a étudié la musique. Il débute dans la chanson en 1946 comme auteur-compositeur-interprète. De 1948 à 1953, il est animateur à la radio, chanteur et comédien durant les débuts de la télévision. Il participa également à la première pièce de Marcel Dubé, Zone, qui gagne le premier prix du festival d'art dramatique du Canada. Il obtient à cette occasion le prix du meilleur rôle de soutien. Anne Sexton

Anne Sexton was born Anne Gray Harvey in Newton, Massachusetts to Mary Gray Staples and Ralph Harvey. She spent most of her childhood in Boston. In 1945 she enrolled at Rogers Hall boarding school, Lowell, Massachusetts, later spending a year at Garland School. For a time she modeled for Boston`s Hart Agency.
