Nascuta in Turda, am crescut in blocurile muncitoresti din Campia Turzii. Mama avea grija sa invat, chiar daca nu mi-a permis sa citesc atat cat as fi vrut. Am invatat la Scoala Generala nr.1 in Campia Turzii, iar invatatoarei si profesorilor mei le multumesc pentru ca educatia primita imi e partener de drum oricand. Am fost prima pe lista de admitere la Liceul Pedagogic Gh. Lazar din Cluj. Anii de liceu si viata de internat mi-au oferit posibilitatea de a invata despre viata, a fost prima perioada de expansiune, de care am profitat citind, studiind, exersand si literatura si arta plastica. Doream sa studiez Filologia, dar , dupa absolvirea liceului, am optat pentru Institutul de Arte Plastice. Mi-am vazut numele pe al patrulea rand sub linia de admitere si m-am resemnat 30 de ani ca educatoare. Nu pot preciza cand am scris prima poezie, dar pastrez lucrari din scoala generala. René Depestre (born 29 August 1926) is a Haitian poet and communist. He lived in Cuba as an exile from the Duvalier regime for many years and was a founder of the Casa de las Americas publishing house. He is best known for his poetry. The city of Jacmel, his birthplace, is often evoked in his poetry and his novels, in particular Hadriana In All My Dreams (1988). He did his primary studies with the Breton Brothers of Christian Instruction. His father died in 1936 and Rene Depestre left his mother, his two brothers and his two sisters to go live with his maternal grandmother. From 1940 to 1944, he completed his secondary studies at the Pétion college in Port-au-Prince. Étincelles (Sparks), his first collection of poetry, appeared in 1945, prefaced by Edris Saint-Amand.
