Louis-Ferdinand Céline was the pen name of French writer and doctor Louis-Ferdinand Destouches (27 May 1894 – 1 July 1961). The name "Céline" was chosen after his grandmother's first name. Céline is considered one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century, developing a new style of writing that modernized both French and World literature. He remains, however, a controversial figure because of anti-Semitic statements published in 1937 and during the Second World War. Only child of Ferdinand-Auguste Destouches and Marguerite-Louise-Céline Guilloux, he was born Louis-Ferdinand Destouches in 1894 at Courbevoie, just outside Paris in the Seine département (now Hauts-de-Seine). His father was a minor functionary in an insurance firm and his mother was a lacemaker. William Robert Rodgers

William Robert Rodgers (1909 – 1969), known as Bertie, and born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was probably best known as a poet, but was also a prose essayist, a book reviewer, a radio broadcaster and script writer, a lecturer and, latterly, a teacher, as well as a former Presbyterian minister. He was born in Belfast and grew up in Mountpottinger in the east of the city. At school he showed a talent for writing and went on to read English at Queen\'s University Belfast where he won a number of prizes for literary essays, graduating in 1931. On completion of his degree, he entered Presbyterian Theological College and was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1935. Lars Gustafsson

Lars Gustafsson, född 17 maj 1936 i Västerås i Västmanlands län, är en svensk filosof, författare och poet. År 1982 bosatte han sig i Austin i Texas i USA, men återvände 2006 till Sverige. Han bor nu på Södermalm i Stockholm. Lars Gustafsson studerade litteraturhistoria, estetik, sociologi och filosofi vid Uppsala universitet samt blev filosofie licentiat. Med avhandlingen Språk och lögn blev han doktor i Uppsala 1978. Han var redaktör för BLM 1962-1972 samt är ledamot av Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur i Mainz och Akademie der Künste i Berlin. Vid University of Texas at Austin arbetade han som professor i germanska studier och filosofi fram till maj 2006. Gustafsson är känd som betydande romanförfattare och lyriker.
