Nathaniel Tarn (born 1928) is an American poet of Anglo French origin. Nathaniel Tarn was born in 1928 in Paris of a British father and a French mother with many links to the U.S.: the American side of the family were the Shuberts of Broadway (though he never met them). Tarn was brought up in France and Belgium and reached England a week before World War Two. He survived the Blitz, went up to Cambridge University early aged 18, studying History and English literature. He returned to France in 1948 to be a French poet, working in journalism and radio. He discovered anthropology and was trained at the Musee de l\'Homme, the Sorbonne and the College de France. This was followed by a Smith-Mundt-Fulbright scholarship to the University of Chicago via \"orientation\" at Yale with a year\'s research in Guatemala under Robert Redfield and a postdoctorate life at the London School of Economics. Engleză Publilius (less correctly Publius) Syrus, a Latin writer of maxims, flourished in the 1st century BC. He was a Syrian who was brought as a slave to Italy, but by his wit and talent he won the favor of his master, who freed and educated him. His mimes, in which he acted himself, had a great success in the provincial towns of Italy and at the games given by Caesar in 46 BC. Publilius was perhaps even more famous as an improviser, and received from Caesar himself the prize in a contest in which he vanquished all his competitors, including the celebrated Decimus Laberius. All that remains of his works is a collection of Sentences (Sententiae), a series of moral maxims in iambic and trochaic verse. This collection must have been made at a very early date, since it was known to Aulus Gellius in the 2nd century AD....

ACAntonio Cisneros
The Peruvian poet and novelist Antonio Cisneros was born in Lima in 1942 where, from 1960 to 1964, he studied literature at the »Catholic University«. Later he undertook a PhD at the »San Marcos University«. He had already begun to publish his poems with much success in his first few years as a student. His volume of poetry »Destierro« came out in 1961 and is now regarded as among the classics of Latin-American lyric poetry. Early on he was still very much influenced by the Anglo-American beat-literature and inspired by its ironic gestures and its every-day sound. Later he turned more noticeably to political issues in order, so he emphasizes, to counteract the increasing political indifference in Latin-American society. After getting my Master's degree in Mathematics from University of Bucharest and working for four years as Junior Assistant Professor in Romanian-American University, Bucharest, I decided to leave my country in order to study some more Mathematics. After spending two years in Montreal, Canada, I moved to USA where I am currently doing my Ph.D in Mathematics. Writing poems helps me convey ideas and feelings to other people. It happend that two short poems of mine, translated in French, got published in " North Texas World Literatures Review" Vol. 2, ETC... , run by the Foreign Language Department of UNT, Denton, TX, USA.

Olly Komenda Soentgerath
Olly Komenda Soentgerath was born as German in Prague. She studied Germanistik and History at the Karl University. First poems appeared in the \"Prager day sheet\". In the Federal Republic of Germany she published so far ten poem volumes and a Prosaband. Seifert translated her poems into Czech and published them in three volumes in Prague two years before she received the 1984 Nobelprize. The poems of Olly Komenda Soentgerath were published in numerous anthologies, newspapers and magazines. They were toned and translated into several languages - the authoress is member of the PEN- club.She won several literary awards kept among others being the Culture Prize for Bibliography 1992 endowed by the Free State of Bavaria; the Honour Gift of Andreas Gryphius; and in 1996 the Kuenstlergilde endowed by the Federal Ministry of the Inside.

By the time he was twelve, he was composing and mounting concerts and dramatic works in the hall above his family\'s quarters in the Gemeindehaus.
