JBJean de La Bruyère
He was born in Paris, not, as was once thought, at Dourdan (in today's Essonne département) in 1645. His family was middle class, and his reference to a certain Geoffroy de La Bruyère, a crusader, is only a satirical illustration of a method of self-ennoblement common in France as in some other countries. Indeed he himself always signed the name Delabruyère in one word, as evidence of this. He could trace his family back at least as far as his great-grandfather, who had been a strong Leaguer. La Bruyère's own father was controller general of finance to the Hôtel de Ville. The son was educated by the Oratorians and at the University of Orléans; he was called to the bar, and in 1673 bought a post in the revenue department at Caen, which gave him status and an income. CPClément Pansaers
Clément Pansaers (1 mai 1885, Neerwinden - 31 octombrie 1922, Bruxelles) a fost principalul reprezentant al dadaismului în Belgia. A început să scrie poezii în 1916 după ce a abandonat cariera sa de egiptologist. Împreună cu câțiva avangardiști din Bruxelles, a fondat revista Résurrection, ce a publicat texte timpurii de Carl Einstein, Pierre Jean Jouve, Franz Werfel ș.a. Prima sa carte cu adevărat "dadaistă" este "Pan-Pan au Cul du Nu Nègre", publicat în 1920. Împreună cu cartea "Bar Nicanor" (1921), a fost citit și apreciat de scriitori precum James Joyce, Ezra Pound, Theo Van Doesburg, Francis Picabia sau André Breton. Pansaers s-a mutat la Paris în 1921, unde s-a implicat în mișcarea dada până ce a murit timpuriu din cauza bolii lui Hodgkin. Francis Ponge (n. 27 martie 1899, Montpellier - d. 6 august 1988, Bar-sur-Loup, Alpes-Maritimes) a fost un celebru poet francez modernist. Inițial asociat cu suprarealismul, a sintetizat repede o formulă personală care îmbină poezia și eseul și care are întotdeauna ca subiect un lucru sau altul - de unde ideea de "poezie a obiectelor", obiecte ce se substituie în mare măsură prezenței umane. În literatura română, influența lui Ponge se resimte la mai mulți poeți precum Emil Brumaru, Constantin Abăluță, George Almosnino, Petre Vasile Fati, Gheorghe Grigurcu, Mircea Valeriu Popa, ș.a. Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson, FRS (6 August 1809 – 6 October 1892) was Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom and remains one of the most popular poets in the English language.
