One child in a starving crowd,
thin arms stretched toward the sky,
a man with bowls full of rice,
awarding them like a special price,
many are hungry, the food is scarce,
I look at them and feel ashamed,
the strong tear the rice from his hands…
my boy is weak, he is left behind,
I see myself in his desperate eyes,
begging, reaching,
yet not hungry am I
for food, but for love and understanding,
and this hunger will never die…
