Under a royalblue evening -
the trees are on fire, it seems –
in the dying light of a retreating day
as darkness is fast pouring its way
over a desperate last embrace
before the still night unveils her face,
lays bare the secret of forbidden love;
no place to hide amidst shadows cast
on purity tarnished - while eternity
is hope betrayed in a fleeting heartbeat
