A slice of cheese please,
from that big shelf,
the yellow round
cut in half
to hang onto the evening sky
and brighten my children’s eyes
A slice of moon, please,
the smiling kind,
with a chain of flickering fairy’s tails
Magic candles freshly lit
from unknown hand,
carefully,
so little puppies won’t be
afraid in the silent dark
patiently,
to show all candy dreams
the way into children’s sleep
