the lace that encircles
your feeling’s mouth
hushes a promise
from life’s lap
i can’t afford to see
you
and
just as a compromise
i think
your sun’s
vocal cords
are worth my eloquence
but
if i were Pandora’s box,
don’t you know what i’d keep inside?
