Claude Simon (10 October 1913, — 6 July 2005) was a French novelist and the 1985 Nobel Laureate in Literature. He was born in Antananarivo, Madagascar, and died in Paris, France. Simon is often identified with the nouveau roman movement exemplified in the works of Alain Robbe-Grillet and Michel Butor, and while his fragmented narratives certainly contain some of the formal disruption characteristic of that movement (in particular Triptyque from 1973), he nevertheless retains a strong sense of narrative and character. In fact, Simon arguably has much more in common with his Modernist predecessors than with his contemporaries; in particular, the works of Marcel Proust and William Faulkner are a clear influence. William Austin (1778–1841) was an American author and lawyer, most notable as the creator of the Peter Rugg stories published in the New England Galaxy in 1824–1827. Austin's stories, constructed as long letters signed with the name Jonathan Dunwell, presented the Rugg story as a long-standing New England legend, about a strong and obstinate man who got lost in a thunderstorm in 1770 and wandered the roads ever afterwards. Austin was born in 1778 in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, where his family had fled after the British burned down their Charlestown house during the Battle of Bunker Hill. Ian Bavitz
Ian Bavitz, Long Island, New York City, New York, USA. Acquiring his adopted moniker from a movie he had acted in with friends and adding the surname when he began throwing rhymes, Aesop Rock creates hip-hop that is potent and evocative of his home city of New York. He and his production partner Blockhead apparently derive most of their samples from records lifted from the 99 cent bins of local music stores, meaning most of the sounds on his albums are drawn from Italian disco records. The former art student from Boston University built up a strong online fanbase with a number of CD releases, including Music For Earthworms and Appleseed, before making his debut album for the Mush label in 2000 with Float. Drawing on history and mythology to inform his densely constructed soundscapes, Aesop Rock\'s dextrous flow required several listens for the impact of his lyrics to be fully understood and assimilated.

Thomas Gray
1716–71, English poet. He was educated at Eton and Peterhouse, Cambridge. In 1739 he began a grand tour of the Continent with Horace Walpole. They quarreled in Italy, and Gray returned to England in 1741. He continued his studies at Cambridge, and he remained there for most of his life, living in seclusion, studying Greek, and writing.
