SHSelima Hill
Poet Selima Hill was born on 13 October 1945 in London, England and grew up in rural England and Wales. She read Moral Sciences at New Hall, Cambridge (1965-7). She regularly collaborates with artists and has worked on multimedia projects with the Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera and BBC Bristol. She is a tutor at the Poetry School in London, and has taught creative writing in hospitals and prisons. Selima Hill won first prize in the 1988 Arvon Foundation/Observer International Poetry Competition for her long poem The Accumulation of Small Acts of Kindness, and her 1997 collection, Violet, was shortlisted for the Forward Poetry Prize (Best Poetry Collection of the Year), the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Poetry Award. Her book of poetry, Bunny (2001), a series of poems about a young girl growing up in the 1950s, won the Whitbread Poetry Award. Selima Hill lives in Dorset. Her most recent book of poetry is The Hat (2008).

Abū-Muḥammad Muṣliḥ al-Dīn bin Abdallāh Shīrāzī, better known by his pen-name as Saʿdī or, simply, Saadi, was one of the major Persian poets of the medieval period. He is not only famous in Persian-speaking countries, but he has also been quoted in western sources. He is recognized for the quality of his writings, and for the depth of his social and moral thoughts. A native of Shiraz, his father died when he was an infant. French Existentialist, Writer, and Social Essayist Born and educated in Paris, Simone de Beauvoir was among the first women permitted to complete a program of study at the École Normale Supérieure. Through her lifelong friendship with Sartre, she contributed significantly to the development and expression of existentialist philosophy. Jean-Paul Sartre and De beauvoir met after her studies in the Sorbonne, the beginning of a friendship which lasted until his death in 1980. This period began what she described as a \'moral\' phase of life; the culmination of which was her most important philosophical work, The Ethics of Ambiguity(1948). Stanis³aw Jerzy Lec (6 March 1909 – 7 May 1966) (born Baron Stanis³aw Jerzy de Tusch-Letz) was a Polish poet and aphorist of Polish and Jewish noble origin. Often mentioned among the greatest writers of post-WW2 Poland, he was one of the most influential aphorists on the 20th century. Lyrical poetry, sceptical philosophical-moral aphorisms, often with a political subtext. He was born on March 6, 1909 in Lviv (then Lemberg, Austro-Hungarian Empire), the son of the Baron Benon de Tusch-Letz and Adela Safrin. The family moved to Vienna at the onset of First World War, and Lec' early education was received there. Georges Joseph Christian Simenon (13 februarie 1903 – 4 septembrie 1989) a fost un scriitor de romane de crimă belgian. Un autor prolific ce a publicat aproape 200 de romane și numeroase lucrări mai scurte, Simenon este cel mai bine știut pentru crearea detectivului fictiv Maigret. A scris peste 200 de romane, traduse in peste cincizeci de limbi, dintre care 75 de romane si 28 de povestiri avindu-l drept personaj principal pe celebrul inspector Maigret. MGMarcel Gafton
Marcel Gafton (1925-1987) a fost un poet și traducător român. A absolvit studiile liceale la Brăila și alege Facultatea de Drept a Universității din București pe care, însă, nu reușește s-o finalizeze. Încă din vârsta adolescenței, debutează cu poeme în Revista Fundațiilor Regale, primul său volum va apărea însă abia în 1972. Volumele sale îl impun drept un poet de „accentuat rafinament lingvistic”; Ștefan Augustin Doinaș, crede că Gafton este un mare amator de cuvinte ne-poetice cu ajutorul cărora ilustrează „un orizont de candori și miraje, de străvezimi și plutiri”, orizont moral și senzitiv deopotrivă. Marcel Gafton e „un poet fidel lui însuși, cavaler al unei poezii de interior, care gândește într-o încăpere severă” (Emil Manu) și care se impune prin poeme rafinate până la esențe. Altfel spus, acest novator al limbajului poetic este „o individualitate nu numai în cadrul generației războiului, din care face parte, dar și în cel al generațiilor ulterioare de poeți” (Ion Cristofor)....
