Anvari (1126–1189), full name Awhad ad-Din 'Ali ibn Mohammad Khavarani or Awhad ad-Din 'Ali ibn Mahmud was one of the greatest Persian poets. He was born in Abivard of (now in Turkmenistan) and died in Khurasanian Balkh, now in Afghanistan, and studied science and literature at the collegiate institute in Tun (now Firdaus, Iran), becoming a famous astronomer as well as a poet. Anvari's poems were collected in a Deewan, and contains panegyrics, eulogies, satire, and others. His elegy "Tears of Khorasan", translated into English in 1789, is considered to be one of the most beautiful poems in Persian literature. The Cambridge History of Iran calls Anvari "one of the greatest figures in Persian literature". Despite their beauty, his poems often required much help with interpretation, as they were often complex and difficult to understand. After getting my Master's degree in Mathematics from University of Bucharest and working for four years as Junior Assistant Professor in Romanian-American University, Bucharest, I decided to leave my country in order to study some more Mathematics. After spending two years in Montreal, Canada, I moved to USA where I am currently doing my Ph.D in Mathematics. Writing poems helps me convey ideas and feelings to other people. It happend that two short poems of mine, translated in French, got published in " North Texas World Literatures Review" Vol. 2, ETC... , run by the Foreign Language Department of UNT, Denton, TX, USA.

Christina Georgina Rossetti, one of the most important women poets writing in nineteenth-century England, was born in London December 5, 1830, to Gabriele and Frances (Polidori) Rossetti. Although her fundamentally religious temperament was closer to her mother\'s, this youngest member of a remarkable family of poets, artists, and critics inherited many of her artistic tendencies from her father. Judging from somewhat idealized sketches made by her brother Dante, Christina as a teenager seems to have been quite attractive if not beautiful.
