Roger Woddis, poet: born London 17 May 1917; married Joan Hobson (one son, one daughter; marriage dissolved); died London 16 July 1993. Roger Woddis was a writer and humorous poet. One of his most famous poems, Ethics for Everyman, deals with double-morality of ethical principles. His early writing career included some involvement with Unity Theatre, London, where he contributed material to a number of revues. His poetry featured regularly in Radio Times and other periodicals in the 1970s. During much of the 1980s and early '90s, he had his own weekly poem in the humour magazine Punch: titled "Subverse". This consisted each week of a humorously subversive political poem, often dealing with recent events. He was also New Statesman's weekly poet until months before his death, succeeding 'Sagittarius' (Olga Katzin) in 1970 and, before her, Reginald Reynolds; and succeeded by Bill Greenwell. Nathaniel Tarn (born 1928) is an American poet of Anglo French origin. Nathaniel Tarn was born in 1928 in Paris of a British father and a French mother with many links to the U.S.: the American side of the family were the Shuberts of Broadway (though he never met them). Tarn was brought up in France and Belgium and reached England a week before World War Two. He survived the Blitz, went up to Cambridge University early aged 18, studying History and English literature. He returned to France in 1948 to be a French poet, working in journalism and radio. Albert Einstein was born at Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany, on March 14, 1879. Six weeks later the family moved to Munich and he began his schooling there at the Luitpold Gymnasium. Karl Werner Aspenström (13 November 1918 – 25 January 1997) was a Swedish poet. Born at Norrbärke, he was a member of the Swedish Academy, where he held Seat 12 from 1981 to 1997. Aspenström claimed that his motivation for writing was "writing for his cat", but apparently hinted that he meant someone else with that. In 1989, together with Lars Gyllensten and Kerstin Ekman, he resigned from the Swedish Academy because of the academy’s response to the Salman Rushdie controversy, which was perceived as weak. He however claimed that this was not the sole reason for his resignation, but rather one amongst several other. He was a friend of Stig Dagerman. Geboren 1875 als Sohn eines Pfarrers, studierte er Medizin in Basel, nachdem er Archäologie abgebrochen hatte. Seine Dissertation schrieb er über Psychologie und Pathologie so genannter okkulter Phänomene. Danach, im Wintersemester 1902/1903, arbeitete er bei Pierre Janet in Paris. 1903 heiratete er Emma Rauschenbach. Danach war er Volontärarzt bei Eugen Bleuler in der Heilanstalt Burghölzli. Hier machte er empirische Studien über die Schizophrenie und publizierte 1904 seine erste Arbeit (über Assoziations-Experimente). Ab 1905 war er Dozent für Psychiatrie an der Universität Zürich, gab aber 1909 seine Tätigkeit in Burghölzli wegen Zerwürfnissen mit Bleuler auf. Die erste Begegnung mit Freud fand 1907 statt. Jan Jakub Twardowski (June 1, 1915 – January 18, 2006) was a famous Polish poet, but, as he said of himself, he was a priest (of the Catholic Church) first of all.
