Poetul, romancierul și scenaristul Kenneth Jay Koch s-a născut la 27 februarie 1925 în Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. După ce își face stagiul militar, în 1943, își începe studiile la Universitatea Harward, continuându-le la Columbia University. Timp de trei ani e rezident în Franța și Italia. Raymond Carver
The American short story writer and poet Raymond Carver was born in Clatskanie, Oregon, on May 25, 1938, and lived in Port Angeles, Washington during his last ten, sober years until his death from cancer on August 2, 1988. He was a Guggenheim Fellow in 1979 and was twice awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. In 1983 Carver received the prestigious Mildred and Harold Strauss Living Award which gave him $35,000 per year tax free and required that he give up any employment other than writing, and in 1985 Poetry magazine\'s Levinson Prize. In 1988 he was elected to the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Letters from the University of Hartford. Anthony McCann is an American poet. He is the author of two collections of poetry, including Father of Noise, and Moongarden. He is also the author of Gentle Reader!, a book of erasures of the English Romantics, written with fellow poets Joshua Beckman and Matthew Rohrer. Don Íñigo López de Mendoza y de la Vega, Marquis of Santillana (August 19, 1398 - March 25, 1458) was a Castilian poet who held an important position in society and Literature during the reign of John II of Castile. He was born at Carrión de los Condes in Old Castile to a noble family which figured prominently in the arts. His grandfather, Pedro González de Mendoza, and his father, Diego Hurtado de Mendoza Admiral of Castile, were both poets with close ties to the great literary figures of the time: Chancellor Lopez de Ayala, Fernán Pérez de Guzmán and Gomez Manrique. His mother, Doña Leonor de la Vega, was a wealthy heiress belonging to the House of de la Vega. Alphonse Allais (October 20, 1854 - October 28, 1905) was a French writer and humorist born in Honfleur, Calvados. He is the author of many collections of whimsical writings. A poet as much as a humorist, he in particular cultivated the verse form known as holorhyme, i.e. made up entirely of homophonous verses, where entire lines rhyme. For example: par les bois du djinn où s'entasse de l'effroi, parle et bois du gin ou cent tasses de lait froid. Allais is also credited with the earliest known example of a completely silent musical composition.
