Bernard Werber (born September 18, 1961 in Toulouse) is a French science fiction writer active since the 1990s. Werber was born in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) in a Jewish family on 18 September 1961. Beginning at the age of 14, he wrote stories for a fanzine, an experience which would later be useful in his novels, such as L'Empire des anges (The Empire of the Angels). After leaving school, he became a Scientific journalist in Le Nouvel Observateur and Eurêka, the magazine of the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie in Paris for about a decade. During this period, he developed an interest in science, which he mixes with his favourite themes, ants, death and the origins of the human race. Werber's works have been translated into 35 languages. He was sent to accompany the Tartar messenger who had brought to the queen the letter of the khan that contained proposals of common operation against Poland and he was to hand over to the khan the answer of the queen as well. He passed through The White Citadel for the first time in December 1650 on his way towards Crimea. Now, in the summer of the next year, he was coming back on the same route and was finding again the same boatmen he had used six months earlier, on leaving. Brian Chan was born in Guyana in 1949. He began to establish a reputation as a poet of talent with his work in Expression in the early 1970s, part of a group that included Janice Lowe (Shinebourne) and N.D. Williams. He had poems published in Caribbean Quarterly, Artrage, and One People’s Grief and is included in the Heinemann anthology of Caribbean poetry. His first collection of poems, Thief With Leaf (1988) won the 1988 Guyana Prize. His work is challenging and experimental, exploring not only experience, but the fictions we create in making sense of experience. He moved to Canada in the 1970s and his poems explore a territory in which Guyanese memories filter into the Canadian present. He currently lives in Edmonton. His second collection of poems, Fabula Rasa, was published in 1994. He is a musician (clarinetist) and accomplished painter.

JDJoe Duggan
Joe Duggan is a poet, writer and facilitator, originally from Northern Ireland. His first full collection “Fizzbombs” was published by Tall Lighthouse in 2008. He was highly commended in The Forward Prize 2009 and featured in the Forward Book of Poetry 2010. He was a founder member of the “Bunch of Chancers” Poetry Group in Derry, touring throughout Ireland and New York State. His work has been published by Brand, Abridged, Fingerpost, Bear in Mind (Lagan Press), Cúirt Journal and the Shuffle Anthology.
