Nicholas Vachel Lindsay - poet, idealist, trubadur - este numit uneori \'cel de-al doilea fiu faimos al orasului Springfield\'. Ca orice tanar din centrul Illinoisului, a fost crescut in spiritul virtutilor propagate de catre Abraham Lincoln, cel mai faimos rezident al orasului sau natal. Si, la fel ca acesta, s-a aratat fascinat de oamenii simpli, pe care de multe ori i-a surprins in lirica sa. A urmat Colegiul Hiram, in Ohio, timp de trei ani, inainte de a studia arta in Chicago si New York. In final s-a orientat spre poezie, un domeniu in care a cunoscut cel mai mare succes. After earning a reputation as a fine guitarist in school bands like Emil and the Detectives, Richard had his first brush with ‘fame’ as a teenaged founding member of the 1960’s folk-rock pioneers, Fairport Convention. Playing an inventive musical mix of blues and California-style rock, the group was quickly dubbed “the new Jefferson Airplane”. The band’s founding members (Iain Matthews, Judy Dyble, Richard Thompson, Simon Nicol, Ashley Hutchings, Martin Lamble) were discovered playing in London’s Soho district, by American producer Joe Boyd. Boyd secured them a recording contract and their eponymous debut album was released in 1968. Shortly thereafter, the band’s lead vocalist, Judy Dyble, was replaced with the ethereal songstress, Sandy Denny. Born: 8 December 1894 Birthplace: Columbus, Ohio Death: 2 November 1961 (complications from a stroke) Best Known As: Author of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty Thurber\'s witty short stories and lumpy cartoons were a popular mainstay of The New Yorker magazine in the 1930s and 1940s. A Midwestern boy with an urbane twist, Thurber mixed comical reminiscences of his Ohio childhood with wry observations on modern times and the battle of the sexes. (His best-known story is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the tale of a henpecked husband who escapes into heroic daydreams.) Don McLean
Famed for -- and ultimately defined by -- his perennial \"American Pie,\" singer/songwriter Don McLean was born October 2, 1945, in New Rochelle, NY. After getting his start in the folk clubs of New York City during the mid-\'60s, McLean struggled for a number of years, building a small following through his work with Pete Seeger on the Clearwater, a sloop that sailed up and down the eastern seaboard to promote environmental causes. Still, McLean was primarily singing in elementary schools and the like when in 1970 he wrote a musical tribute to painter Vincent Van Gogh; the project was roundly rejected by a number of labels, although MediaArts did offer him a contract to record a number of his other songs under the title Tapestry. Numele meu este Carmen Alina, locuiesc în Craiova și am 40 ani. Iubesc să scriu și să citesc, mai ales poezii. Scrisul este pentru mine o oază de liniște și totodată o fata Morgana pe care nu o pot atinge niciodată, pentru că sunt foarte perfecționistă. Am publicat cartea de poezii Fii lună în anul 2020, romanele Notre Maison și Amicii în 2021, romanul de dragoste Mika în 2022 și romanul fantasy Fantoma indigo din New York în 2023. Aceste cărți pot fi achiziționate de la mine. Vă mulțumesc tuturor celor care îmi sunteți alături și îmi citiți creațiile. Să nu încetați să credeți în puterea voastră interioară și să aveți curajul să vă îndepliniți visurile, pentru că timpul nu se oprește în loc pentru nimeni.

Poet and critic Craig Raine was born on 3 December 1944 in Bishop Auckland, England, and read English at Exeter College, Oxford. He lectured at Exeter College (1971-2), Lincoln College, Oxford, (1974-5), and Christ Church, Oxford, (1976-9), and was books editor for New Review (1977-8), editor of Quarto (1979-80), and poetry editor at the New Statesman (1981). Reviews and articles from this period are collected in Haydn and the Valve Trumpet (1990). He became poetry editor at the London publishers Faber and Faber in 1981, and became a fellow of New College, Oxford, in 1991. WAWilliam Austin
William Austin (1778–1841) was an American author and lawyer, most notable as the creator of the Peter Rugg stories published in the New England Galaxy in 1824–1827. Austin's stories, constructed as long letters signed with the name Jonathan Dunwell, presented the Rugg story as a long-standing New England legend, about a strong and obstinate man who got lost in a thunderstorm in 1770 and wandered the roads ever afterwards. Austin was born in 1778 in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, where his family had fled after the British burned down their Charlestown house during the Battle of Bunker Hill. He was educated at Harvard College and Lincoln's Inn, London. He married twice, fought one duel with pistols, and had fourteen children. As a young man he served as Unitarian chaplain aboard the USS Constitution.
