Frederick Ogden Nash
Born Frederick Ogden Nash on August 19, 1902 in Rye, New York. An ancestor, General Francis Nash, gave his name to Nashville, Tennesee. Raised in Rye, New York and Savannah, Georgia. Educated at St. George\'s School in Rhode Island and, briefly, Harvard University. Started work writing advertising copy for Doubleday, Page Publishing, New York, in 1925. Published first book for children, The Cricket of Caradon in 1925. First published poem Spring Comes to Murray Hill appears in New Yorker magazine in 1930. Joins staff at New Yorker in 1932. Married Frances Rider Leonard on June 6, 1933. Published 19 books of poetry. Collaborated, in 1943, in the musical comedy, \"One Touch of Venus.\" Elected to the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1950. Lived in New York but his principal home was in Baltimore, Maryland, where he died on May 19, 1971. He was buried in North Hampton, New Hampshire.

Seamus Heaney (born 13 April 1939) is an Irish poet, writer and lecturer who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1995. He currently lives in Dublin. Seamus Heaney was born on April 13, 1939 into a family of nine children at the family farmhouse called Mossbawn, between Castledawson and Toomebridge in Northern Ireland. In 1953, his family moved to Bellaghy, a few miles away, which is now the family home. His father, Patrick Heaney, owned and worked a small farm of fifty acres in County Londonderry, but his real commitment was to cattle-dealing, to which he was introduced by the uncles who had cared for him after the early death of his own parents. Seamus' mother came from the McCann family, whose uncles and relations were employed in the local linen mill and whose aunt had worked as a maid to the mill owners' family. Gil Vicente (1465 — 1536) este considerat primul mare dramaturg portughez. Activitatea sa literară este cuprinsă între anii 1502 și 1536. Gil Vicente (1465? — 1536?) é geralmente considerado o primeiro grande dramaturgo português, além de poeta de renome. Há quem o identifique com o ourives, autor da Custódia de Belém, mestre da balança, e com o mestre de Retórica do rei Dom Manuel. Enquanto homem de teatro, parece ter também desempenhado as tarefas de músico, actor e encenador. Formou-se em medicina em 1923 pela Escola Nacional de Medicina, (atualmente pertencente à Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro). Fez especializaçăo no Instituto Oswaldo Cruz. Estudou nos Estados Unidos e fez residência médica em várias cidades européias, onde se tornou aviador, retornando ao Brasil em 1926. William J. ("Billy") Collins (born March 22, 1941) is an American poet who served two terms as the 44th Poet Laureate of the United States, from 2001 to 2003. In his home state, Collins has been recognized as a Literary Lion of the New York Public Library (1992) and selected as the New York State Poet for 2004. He was recently appointed Claire Berman Artist in Residence at The Roxbury Latin School, in West Roxbury, MA. He is a distinguished professor at Lehman College of the City University of New York. Collins was born in New York City to William and Katherine Collins.
