Miodrag Pavloviæ (Serbian Cyrillic: Миодраг Павловић; listen (help·info)) was born on 28 November 1928 in Novi Sad, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. He went to school and university in Belgrade, where he studied medicine from 1947 until 1954, learned foreign languages, and wrote his first volume of poetry, 87 Poems. It appeared in 1952, the year the Yugoslav authorities, responding to a public address by the Croatian writer Miroslav Krleza, allowed more freedom of expression in politics and the arts. In 1960 Pavlovic was appointed director of drama at the People’s Theatre in Belgrade. He also worked for twenty years as editor for the leading publishing house of Prosveta. I was born in Tg-Jiu ( the beatiful place where people might admire Brancusi's monumental masterpieces), Romania. After getting my Master's degree in Mathematics from University of Bucharest and working for four years as Junior Assistant Professor in Romanian-American University, Bucharest, I decided to leave my country in order to study some more Mathematics. After spending two years in Montreal, Canada, I moved to USA where I am currently doing my Ph.D in Mathematics. Writing poems helps me convey ideas and feelings to other people. The town of Slatina is mentioned for the first time in an official document issued by Vladislav I Vlaicu on January 20th, 1386. The name's origin is Slavic "Slam-tina", which means "salted land" or "salty water", although a small minority promote a politicized misconception that the term originates in the Latin "Salatina". Poet Fleur Adcock was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on 10 February 1934, but spent much of her childhood, including the war years, in England. She studied Classics at Victoria University in Wellington and taught at the University of Otago, moving to London in 1963 where she worked as a librarian at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She has held various literary fellowships, including a period at the Charlotte Mason College of Education, Ambleside (1977-78). Wilhelm Hauff (November 29, 1802 – November 18, 1827) was a German poet and novelist. Wilhelm Hauff was born in Stuttgart, the son of August Friedrich Hauff, a secretary in the ministry of foreign affairs, and Hedwig Wilhelmine Elsaesser Hauff. He was the second of four children. Young Hauff lost his father when he was seven years old, and his early education was practically self-gained in the library of his maternal grandfather at Tübingen, where his mother had moved after the death of her husband. In 1818 he was sent to the Klosterschule at Blaubeuren, and in 1820 began to study at the University of Tübingen.
