where the sea has this beautiful color?
I heard that there
the poppies live carelessly until August,
scaring the seagulls with their blood.
it could be a good place
to try falling in love one last time
among the wet and naked youth.
anyway, you see—
in loneliness death keeps growing inside us,
like a little girl with shifting skin,
in all the colors of the evening.
feel it?
she’s about to tear the words apart,
along with her baby teeth.
I’m tired of praying
for her neck to grow long,
her bones fragile.
do you want to go to Tuzla
where the sea has this beautiful color?
you don’t have to bring me flowers,
I won’t be wearing makeup either.
you’ve seen how everything becomes pointless
when people obsessively want to belong to each other.
so come free.
we won’t look at our bodies—
just the sunrise.
we’ll listen to our voices,
imagine the shore as a shiny fish,
stretched endlessly,
a fish that never dies.
we’ll tell each other free people’s stories,
plucking a scale or two.

to lose our feet in the soft sand,
sliding on the waves,
to see if God really loves us.
and after all these voluntary adventures,
to rock above the sun,
your lips on my shoulder,
in an egg-shaped hammock,
as if we’ve known each other forever.
to give myself away
with all my hungry, living hopes.
to let you give yourself away
with your whole life,
in which you only seemed
a simple
and happy man.
