Another cold December morning
is rising over the mountains,
his icy breath glued to the window,
as I wake up in our warm bed
remembering…
those first nights with you,
many winters ago,
huddled together under blankets of wool,
on an old mattress
in front of the fire place…
when you laid on more coal,
quietly, as not to wake me,
while I smiled at the flickering light,
then fell asleep again
in the glow of the newborn heat…
the whisper of the greedy flames,
their passionate dance of colours
soon cradled us into the strangest dreams…
