The clouds are wearing pink dresses tonight
shades of rose and pale
There are clouds in my heart
grey and grey and shades of grey
they are gathering tonight
to bar my way
to hide from me
the path to go, my destiny
Sometimes, tiny windows open
for my soul to look through
Sometimes a flash of lightning
tears them wide
and my soul fills this maze
of dusty streets and anxious faces
with her smile,
bright, blinding, warm…
yet so brief,
like the blink of an eye
like one beat of my heart,
like a lifetime of living
