When you and me are history,
used towels and forgotten vows,
when this world is dead
and I step into the next
what will be left
only me will stay with me,
alone together we will be
the woman and her shadow
the dew on the meadow,
and words not yet said
I will be my only friend again,
the faithful dog without a chain,
from my cappuccino at dawn
to the glass of wine at night
when there’s noone left to fight
for this fragile frame,
I will be me all the same
