Been and Gone

You were here two days ago,
filled the house
with your joyful voice
those questions and answers,
wisdom of an active mind
the walls will retain for a while;
now the rooms are empty
something is missing…
your aura of orange and blue
is slowly fading,
the sounds and perfumes
following you
are stolen by the wind
who does not understand
the need for keeping a memory,
like a raging man
jealous of all
he must erase a scent
that’s not his own…
so I’m left with the words you said,
a book, a photo,
your marmalade
in a half-empty glass,
the pizza that was
much too hard to eat
will go to the dogs…
but I’ll keep the shower gel you forgot…
