a broken man

back with the same old lines
ready to rekindle
the flame long since snuffed out
and over and over his mind’s wheel turns
yet the outcome is always the same
another empty promise
and someone else to blame…
how many ways must I say
what I feel?
the words won’t sink in
to his broken heart…
