The dark vastness of the attic
Around me lingers its dampen smell,
Mysterious and hidden niches
Flood the air with a powerful spell;
Stern rods and pillars entwine above,
Errect they bear an inborn pride:
Eternal defiance of the Sun
Against the pilleage of the times.
Layers of tiles spread upon them
Enclosing secrets underneath,
Tears and glory of a kingdom
Which today seem hardly real.
Within brick walls small gaps peep,
Through them steady sunrays sneak
Piercing the dark mouldy air
With a sharp powerful flare.
Here I stand in the house of glory,
Think of the wit and wisdom which here bloomed,
While only a dainty letter tells the story
Of the house where once SUN ruled...
