a hero’s love

i used to be a warrior
without soul, without reason,
i used to lose hearts
as shiny coins in a dice game,
children’s play,
love,
battle field.
for you i’ve stopped believing
in steel,
green and cruel as your eyes.
since when the taste of blood
stopped arousing
the barbarian in me?
you are our last and final defeat.
love,
spartan statue,
guarding the entrance to the temple of reason
me,
the warrior,
crying,
now i am afraid!
