Lord,you should have let me go on as a bird!

I am trying to fly again

But my forehead bumps against the clouds.

I feel the stump hurt in my shoulder

For you have cut my wing off.

I feel my soul burn with flight

And between me and the sky

There\'s only the distance.

Lord,you should have let me go on as a bird!

I\'m trying to float among dawns

But fall ever harder upon the dew

I feel my voice get stuck among the words

For you\'ve taken my song away.

I feel the claw in my palm

And between me and the birds

There\'s only the present.
