Thus it remains

"Thus it remains",
Says he... a mere knight:
To kiss the lips that hold,
~But greater times to die~
Unfold the reason of thy lies,
Or be I blind by such a truth?
It stings like poison,
This love we endure:
~That never seems to suffice~
Never a tear on thy face to arise,
A face so perfect and pure...
For he rode as once rode the sixth hundred,
Rode on he to the jaws of his doom.
Fallen as autumn, the bride,
In the arms of her groom,
Fallen forever, the fool
In love he fell,
Yet love is so cruel,
~And such sadness~
Fallen in love, lost in madness,
Till the dark days shall break him apart,
Those walls scream so loud!
~As to conceal the white~
Color not where pencil won't write,
The glass stands but sad to oppose
Giving sight,
At the thought of our silence.
