To the frail one

listen!

when you come out the door take a left

and follow your innocence

with ambition

after the first tears take your hands out of your pockets

walk with your back straight and your chin up

to look taller than your enemies

today’s world won’t listen to your whimpers

to see if you’re alive

people will step all over you

first of all with their gaze

then with the pleasure of feeling you soft and raw

under the boots of their words

often your name will begin with a new letter

from the ongoing self re-inventing alphabet

(beware of X, Y, Z so you won’t become someone else’s coordinate)

if you’ll be crossing waters caressing the sky

open your wings wide

fly without the fear of falling

sniff the horizon

and look ahead only

for the past shall follow obediently

late

somewhere, under a heavy stone,

not necessarily cross shaped

you shall rest surrounded by all you have loved

because, my son, you shall love deeply

with my inherited heart!
