from the door you throw your sword
your shield and your tram ticket
then your coat with droopy shoulders
like two barriers of a delayed train
today you lost a battle
with yourself
your favourite enemy
and out of spite
you will drink with him
from the largest goblet
found in the cupboard
you will smuggle illegal memories
(belonging to some ex-colleagues from the office)
you will sing together
hymns and warrior songs
you will watch your previous victories
with pride
like some stuffed and mounted stag heads
and then you’ll fall asleep
in your throne
in your castle
on your planet
carefully observed by alive organisms
with long lashes
