Between the stones and the sky
Sweet dates
Shells for the sun.

Broken mountains
Rabid sun
Traces of Imam

Free of words
Not one bird
Only giant stones
Slanted
In the desert’s pot.
Lost meteorites
Hold in their mouths
The beginnings.

He had his home
At the edge of wind.
A tower
Wrapped in date leaves
With windows by the red desert.
Under our feet,
The sand as warm as bread.

Velvet dunes
Untouched tranquility
The birds ran
Under the sky’s tent.

The blind old man by the wady
Touches the stone
With his cane.
The earths’ eye
Sheds a tear.

Runaway odalisque,
The gaze.
Molten flake,
The step.
Between the dunes thighs,
The time has forgotten
Itself.

Stony hermits
In sandy beards
Weaving
The light.
Only I.

The soul
Hugs the sand intensely.
His woman,
A vertical shadow.

The green melts
Abruptly
In sun crucibles.
The edge of day cuts.

White between the rocks:
A man.
His woman,
Black flake.
