The Man

You look familiar, do I know you?
He mumbled in a prying tone.
Seems like I do, not sure where from.
His eyes swam in ten shades of blue.
Aren’t you that guy that had it all?
The strength, the wits, the smile, the heart.
You look like you’ve been torn apart.
This can’t be him, you look so…small.
But eyes don’t lie, they are the gate
To each and every glimpse of truth.
Yours just stare striped of all their youth
And drowned in desperate twists of fate.
What happened to that selfish self
Who used to fully rule his worlds?
All’s left are only empty words.
Short story on a dusted shelf.
I know you used to feel the rain
And paint the rainbows in the sky
I’ve seen you growing wings to fly
I’ve seen you fall. You loved that pain.
I’ve seen you trust your heart to death
Not caring what the world would say
Now it’s just black and white and gray.
What broke you that you can’t forget?
Through you the music used to flow
It fed your hopes and healed your fails.
It turned to sound now and unveils
A bitter man I used to know
You knew no fear, you loved to live
Now you’re a jar of clouded pearls
A shadow lurking in the twirls.
What broke you that you can’t forgive?
Just know that it’s alright to yell
And cast your rage into thin air.
Don’t fade away into despair,
Don’t choose that heaven to this hell.
I can help you, let me come nearer
He said while reaching out his hand.
I’ll go to moon and back to mend
You, Man staring from the mirror.
