AAAlphonse Allais
Alphonse Allais (October 20, 1854 - October 28, 1905) was a French writer and humorist born in Honfleur, Calvados. He is the author of many collections of whimsical writings. A poet as much as a humorist, he in particular cultivated the verse form known as holorhyme, i.e. made up entirely of homophonous verses, where entire lines rhyme. For example: par les bois du djinn où s'entasse de l'effroi, parle et bois du gin ou cent tasses de lait froid. Allais is also credited with the earliest known example of a completely silent musical composition. Composed in 1897, his Funeral March for the Obsequies of a Deaf Man -- consisting of nine blank measures -- predates comparable works by John Cage and Erwin Schulhoff by a considerable margin. Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J. (28 July 1844 – 8 June 1889), was an English poet, Roman Catholic convert, and Jesuit priest, whose 20th-century fame established him posthumously among the leading Victorian poets. His experimental explorations in prosody (especially sprung rhythm) and his use of imagery established him as a daring innovator in a period of largely traditional verse. He was educated at Highgate School and then Balliol College, Oxford, where he studied classics. Hopkins was an unusually sensitive student and poet, as witnessed by his class-notes and early poetic pieces. Georges Schehadé, né le 2 novembre 1905 à Alexandrie et mort le 17 janvier 1989 à Paris, est un poète et auteur dramatique libanais d'expression française. Issu d'une famille bourgeoise, ses parents le destinent à faire des études commerciales mais il préfère se tourner vers le droit. Sa licence obtenue, il devient rédacteur au Ministère de la Justice puis assistant de Gabriel Bounoure. Schehadé est l'auteur d'une importante oeuvre théâtrale proche des conceptions du nouveau théâtre, dont il est l'un des chefs de file avec, entre autres, Beckett, Ionesco ou Arthur Adamov. Sa pièce la plus célèbre, Histoire de Vasco (1956), a été traduite en 25 langues, jouée un peu partout dans le monde pendant les années 1950 et 1960 et elle a même été l'objet d'une adaptation opératique : The Story of Vasco (1974) par le compositeur anglais Gordon Crosse. (Né à Montréal, le 7 octobre 1928 - ) Poète, romancier, chansonnier et dramaturge, Raymond Lévesque a étudié la musique. Il débute dans la chanson en 1946 comme auteur-compositeur-interprète. De 1948 à 1953, il est animateur à la radio, chanteur et comédien durant les débuts de la télévision. Il participa également à la première pièce de Marcel Dubé, Zone, qui gagne le premier prix du festival d'art dramatique du Canada. Il obtient à cette occasion le prix du meilleur rôle de soutien. Poète et dramaturge, né en 1924 à Saïgon. En 1927, une tragédie familiale le rend orphelin de père et mère. Sa vie et son oeuvre seront profondément marquées par ce drame. Le premier poème que garda Laugier, fut écrit et dit en public en 1942. Dédié à la mémoire de sa mère, il ne le publiera qu\'en 1978 dans Rituel pour une ode, Prix Apollinaire en 1979. La même année 1942, après avoir écrit, joué et mis en scène sa première pièce, entre alors au Centre du spectacle où il se perfectionnera en art dramatique. OPOdilon-Jean Périer
Odilon-Jean Périer est un poète belge d'expression française né à Bruxelles le 9 mars 1901 et mort à Bruxelles le 22 février 1928. De son vrai nom Jean Périer, il choisit le pseudonyme Jean-Odilon Périer pour éviter la confusion avec un acteur célèbre de son époque. Fils de banquier et petit-fils d'Albert Thys, il se destine d'abord au droit qu'il étudie à l'ULB. Poète des réalités simples et quotidiennes, il a également laissé un roman, Le Passage des anges (1926), dont le thème semble avoir été exploité dans Les Ailes du désir de Wim Wenders, et une pièce de théâtre, Les Indifférents (1925). Il meurt à l'âge de 27 ans et est enterré à Dalhem. Une fontaine a été érigée en son honneur, avenue Louise à Bruxelles. François L'Hermite, sieur du Soliers, dit Tristan L'Hermite, né à Janaillat (Creuse) au château de Soliers, dans la Marche, 1601 et mort à Paris le 7 septembre 1655, est un poète et dramaturge français.
