Elizabeth Kim

Elizabeth Kim was born in Korea. Omma was killed by her brother and father ('honour killing') for the sin of sleeping with an American soldier and producing a mixed-race child, Elizabeth. There is no record of her birth or of her name. Dumped in a horrific orphanage in post-war Seoul, Kim was lucky to be adopted by a fundamentalist American family. But just as her American features doomed her in racist Korea, her Korean features served as a constant reminder that she wasn't good enough for her new all-white environment. Her mother had always told her that life was made up of ten thousand joys as well as ten thousand sorrows.

Sylvia Plath

Born to middle class parents in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, Sylvia Plath published her first poem when she was eight. Sensitive, intelligent, compelled toward perfection in everything she attempted, she was, on the surface, a model daughter, popular in school, earning straight A\'s, winning the best prizes. By the time she entered Smith College on a scholarship in 1950 she already had an impressive list of publications, and while at Smith she wrote over four hundred poems. Sylvia\'s surface perfection was however underlain by grave personal discontinuities, some of which doubtless had their origin in the death of her father (he was a college professor and an expert on bees) when she was eight. Joseph Rudyard Kipling

Joseph Rudyard Kipling (n. 30 decembrie 1865 Bombay, India - d. 18 ianuarie 1936) poet și prozator britanic, laureat al Premiului Nobel pentru Literatură în anul 1907. Este celebru prin povestirea sa pentru copii "Cartea Junglei" (1894), romanul indian de spionaj "Kim" (1901), poemele "Gunga Din" (1892) și "If— " (1895), numeroase schițe și nuvele. În 1934 i s-a acordat, alături de William Butler Yeats, Premiul Gothenburg pentru Poezie. În timpul vieții, a fost considerat, îndeobște, poet și i s-a oferit un titlu nobiliar și postul de poet laureat – ambele refuzate de Kipling. Kipling s-a născut la Bombay, India. Tatăl său a fost John Lockwood Kipling, profesor Școala de artă Jeejeebhoy, iar mama sa, Alice Macdonald. Vlad Mușatescu (n. 4 mai 1922, Pitești, d. 4 martie 1999) a fost un scriitor și umorist român. A fost secretarul editurii ABC (1941-1945), redactor la ziarul Înainte (1945-1948), redactor la Editura Europolis, șef tehnic, redactor artistic, machetator la diverse edituri și reviste precum Flacăra, Gazeta literară și Cinema. A scris numeroase cărți pentru copii și adulți, în special parodii polițiste, și a tradus din Kipling, J. London, Cronin, Dylan Thomas, Caldwell.
