Ludwig Börne

Ludwig Börne a fost un scriitor german politic și satirist de origine evreiască.După ce a studiat medicina la Berlin și Halle renunță la ea pentru a studia științele politice la Heidelberg și Giessen. A lucrat în jurnalism pentru ziare liberale Staatsristretto și Die Zeitschwingen. În 1918 s-a convertit la luteranism, schimbîndu-și numele din Lob Baruch în Ludwig Börne. După înterzicerea ziarului editat de el, die Wage, se retrage pentru o vreme din publicistică. Urmărind revoluția din 1830 din Franța, oarecum dezamăgit de ea, scrie o serie de strălucite scrisori satirice Briefe aus Paris. Mireasa din Paris este lucrarea lui Börne cea mai cunoșcută și un punct de cotitură pentru jurnalismul german. Acest lucru la propulsat ca unul dintre liderii mișcării Germania tînără. Anne Sexton

Anne Sexton was born Anne Gray Harvey in Newton, Massachusetts to Mary Gray Staples and Ralph Harvey. She spent most of her childhood in Boston. In 1945 she enrolled at Rogers Hall boarding school, Lowell, Massachusetts, later spending a year at Garland School. For a time she modeled for Boston`s Hart Agency. On August 16, 1948, she married Alfred Sexton and they remained together until 1973. She had two children named Linda Gray and Joyce Ladd. Ian Robertson

Professor Ian Robertson is Professor of Psychology at Trinity College Dublin and Director of Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience, posts he took up in 1999 after 8 years in Cambridge, England as a Fellow of Hughes Hall and a Senior Scientist at the internationally-renowned MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit. Selima Hill

Poet Selima Hill was born on 13 October 1945 in London, England and grew up in rural England and Wales. She read Moral Sciences at New Hall, Cambridge (1965-7). She regularly collaborates with artists and has worked on multimedia projects with the Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera and BBC Bristol. She is a tutor at the Poetry School in London, and has taught creative writing in hospitals and prisons. Selima Hill won first prize in the 1988 Arvon Foundation/Observer International Poetry Competition for her long poem The Accumulation of Small Acts of Kindness, and her 1997 collection, Violet, was shortlisted for the Forward Poetry Prize (Best Poetry Collection of the Year), the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Poetry Award. Her book of poetry, Bunny (2001), a series of poems about a young girl growing up in the 1950s, won the Whitbread Poetry Award. Selima Hill lives in Dorset. Her most recent book of poetry is The Hat (2008).

Kurt Weill

Biography Early Years Kurt Weill was born on 2 March 1900 in Dessau, Germany. The son of a cantor, Weill displayed musical talent early on. By the time he was twelve, he was composing and mounting concerts and dramatic works in the hall above his family\'s quarters in the Gemeindehaus. During the First World War, the teenage Weill was conscripted as a substitute accompanist at the Dessau Court Theater. After studying theory and composition with Albert Bing, Kapellmeister of the Theater, Weill enrolled at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik, but found the conservative training and the infrequent lessons with Engelbert Humperdinck too stifling.
