Charles d'Orléans, né à Paris le 24 novembre 1394 et mort à Amboise le 5 janvier 1465, duc d'Orléans, est un prince français, connu surtout pour son œuvre poétique réalisée lors de sa longue captivité anglaise. Il est le fils de Louis Ier, duc d'Orléans, frère du roi de France Charles VI, et de Valentine Visconti fille du duc de Milan. Il est né à l'hôtel de Saint-Paul, à Paris. Présentation Son enfance est marquée par les rivalités qui opposent son père à Jean sans Peur, duc de Bourgogne, rivalités à l'origine de la guerre civile entre Armagnacs et Bourguignons. Son père est tué sur l'ordre du duc de Bourgogne le 23 novembre 1407. En sa qualité d'aîné, il recueille la plus grande part de l'héritage dont le duché d'Orléans, les comtés de Valois et de Blois, et les seigneuries de Coucy et de Chauny. Il épouse en 1406 sa cousine germaine Isabelle de Valois (17 ans), fille de Charles VI, et veuve de Richard II d'Angleterre. Celle-ci meurt à vingt ans en donnant le jour à une fille....

Percy attended Sion House Academy from 1802-4 and then Eton, where the young intellectual and idealist encountered the public school system of \"fagging,\" in which upperclass boys tyrannized their juniors, who ran errands and acted as servants. Afterwards Shelley equated school with prison. Although University College, Oxford, where he enrolled in 1810, came as something of a relief, within a few months he was expelled along with his friend Thomas Jefferson Hogg for refusing to acknowledge or deny authorship of a pamphlet entitled The Necessity of Atheism. His father visited him in London after his expulsion, insisting that he renounce his friend Hogg and his beliefs, which included atheism, vegetarianism, free love, and political radicalism; Shelley refused. Poet and critic Craig Raine was born on 3 December 1944 in Bishop Auckland, England, and read English at Exeter College, Oxford. He lectured at Exeter College (1971-2), Lincoln College, Oxford, (1974-5), and Christ Church, Oxford, (1976-9), and was books editor for New Review (1977-8), editor of Quarto (1979-80), and poetry editor at the New Statesman (1981). Reviews and articles from this period are collected in Haydn and the Valve Trumpet (1990). He became poetry editor at the London publishers Faber and Faber in 1981, and became a fellow of New College, Oxford, in 1991. Marie Noël, de son vrai nom Marie Rouget, est un poète et écrivain français, née le 16 février 1883 à Auxerre, décédée dans cette même ville le 23 décembre 1967. Elle est née dans une famille très cultivée mais peu religieuse. Elle resta célibataire et s’éloigna très peu de sa ville natale. Sa vie ne fut pas si lisse pour autant : un amour de jeunesse déçu (et l’attente d’un grand amour qui ne viendra jamais), la mort de son jeune frère un lendemain de Noël (d’où elle prit son pseudonyme), les crises de sa foi... tout cela sous-tend une poésie aux airs de chanson traditionnelle.
